He Guides Us Through The Word – Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Topic: God Guides Us Through the Word

And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified – (Acts 20:32)

Some individuals have lost their faith due to their acceptance of certain visions and revelations they claimed to be from God. God doesn’t guide us through dreams according to the New Testament. He leads us by way of the Holy Spirit and the Word. The Holy Spirit will always lead and direct us through our souls and the written word.

You may immediately respond, “How about Acts 2:17? Does this not suggest that God continues to guide through dreams? He doesn’t, in fact. Dreams were just for the generation of men who had sensory knowledge. The apostles and no one else in the New Testament are mentioned as having received ministry in dreams after the arrival of the Holy Spirit. However, the Holy Spirit does guide through visions and other revelations like prophecy, the interior witness, and other Spirit-inspired gifts.

Any vision, prophesy, or revelation, however, that conflicts with the Bible is not from God. It reminds me of the account of a sick man who had been a devout Christian for a long time and had a vision in which a person entered the room wearing sandals and a white robe and was shrouded in a cloud. He recalled that when he tried to make out the face of the person as he looked up from the feet, the image spoke, saying, “It’s not my intention to heal you,” and then vanished.

Because he claimed to have “felt” the presence of God, he had no doubts that it was Jesus. He began to think that God wasn’t going to heal him after that. Why did he suppose that the person who appeared to him was Jesus? Was that a result of the person’s white robe? Was it because the individual was shrouded in a cloud?

That is not sufficient evidence to conclude that it was Jesus. It’s doubtful if you experienced a vision in which a voice instructed you contrary to the Scriptures. Do you think God wants people to be happy? Without a doubt, yeah! Check out 3 John 1:2. He won’t ever appear to you in a dream or vision to give you unfavorable information. He never goes against what He says.

Every revelation must be examined by God’s Word! For this reason, you need to read the Bible and get to know it for yourself.

Scriptures to read:

Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

105 – Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Isaiah 30:21 (TLB)

21 And if you leave God’s paths and go astray, you will hear a voice behind you say, “No, this is the way; walk here.”

Prayers

Dear Father, thank you for the immeasurable blessing of your Word and the Holy Spirit who guides me in your perfect will always. Your Word is my light, and I’m blessed always to receive the accurate guidance I need to deal wisely, enjoying my blessed life of righteousness in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
